At its September 2013 session, the Judicial Conference approved changes to the federal court miscellaneous fee schedules, effective December 1, 2013, as outlined below:

1. Appellate filing fee - from $450 to $500. (Note: The total fee to file a Notice of Appeal is $505 which includes the $5.00 docket fee of the U.S. Court of Appeals).
2. Records retrieval fee - from $53.00 to $64.00 for the first box requested from a Federal Records Center and a new fee of $39.00 for each additional box requested.
3. A $53.00 fee for any payment returned or denied for insufficient funds.
