Honorable Gregory M. Sleet To Take Senior Status

Thursday, April 13, 2017
On March 31, 2017, the Honorable Gregory M. Sleet sent notice to the President of the United States that, as of May 1, 2017, he will take senior status.

Judge Sleet has served with great distinction as a District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware since 1998. He presided as Chief Judge from 2007 to 2014. In his nearly 19 years on the bench, Judge Sleet has handled one of the busiest, most complex dockets in the nation. Throughout this time, his colleagues on the Court have come to rely on him for his wisdom, his leadership, and his devotion to the highest ideals of public service.

Happily, Judge Sleet intends to render substantial judicial service as a Senior Judge. The Court looks forward to having an opportunity to celebrate, along with the Bar, Judge Sleet's tremendous contributions to the District of Delaware.

With the announcement earlier this year that Senior Judge Sue Robinson will retire in August, the District of Delaware will have two vacancies as of May 1, 2017. The Court is hopeful that both vacancies will be filled in a timely manner.
