As of May 1, 2013, pursuant to Judicial Conference Policy, all federal courts began charging a new $50 administrative fee for filing a Civil Action, Suit or Proceeding in a District Court, in addition to the $350 filing fee for a total of $400. This new fee appears as item 14 on the District Court Miscellaneous Fee Schedule which is issued in accordance with 28 U.S.C. § 1914.

This new administrative fee does not apply to persons granted in forma pauperis status under 28 U.S.C. § 1915.
