The Honorable Christopher J. Burke, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, is currently accepting applications for a full-time internship position for the Summer of 2019. Eligible applicants will be college students with significant academic achievements, a demonstrated writing ability and strong interpersonal communication skills. A student with an interest in a future legal career may particularly benefit from the internship. It is likely that a small monetary stipend will be available to the intern selected.
The intern chosen will work under the direction of the Judge and his staff. A significant part of the intern’s work will relate to the Court’s High School Fellowship Program, a community outreach program which the Court has offered every summer since 2016. More information about the HSFP can be found on the Court’s website, at http://www.ded.uscourts.gov/high-school-fellowship-program. The intern’s involvement with the HSFP will include: (1) assisting Judge Burke’s chambers staff with administrative tasks; (2) overseeing the day-to-day activity of the HSFP fellows; and (3) attending, along with the HSFP fellows, a series of presentations from judges and attorneys regarding the Federal and State legal systems. The intern will also assist Judge Burke with a number of other special projects relating to District Court proceedings.
Applicants with interest should submit a cover letter and resume to:
